ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The MCVL announced Fontbonne University men's volleyball libero, Zach Rothstein, has been named the Defensive Player of the Year.
"Zach's awards and recognition this year were not a result of the things he did on the court as much as they were the result of the hard work that he put in from the end of the 2017 season up until January when the season began," said head coach Mike Haston. "He came back from summer 30 pounds lighter, in much better shape and worked tirelessly on his game in the months leading up to the season."
Rothstein, who has already earned MCVL First Team honors, can add this award to his impressive resume. He closed out the year with a single-season record and career-high 331 digs.
He was named MCVL Defensive Player of the Week three times and ranked first both nationally and in conference in digs per set (3.64).
