Lively Named MCVL Rookie Of The Year, Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell, Woolsey, And Rothstein Honored By MCVL
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) released its 2021 All-Conference Team and the Griffins had four winners.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) released its 2021 All-Conference Team and the Griffins had four winners.
Ryan Lively was named Rookie of the Year and to the First Team. He was joined by Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell and Braden Woolsey, while Zach Rothstein earned Second Team honors.
Lively had a stellar first year at Fontbonne leading with 287 kills, 4.63 kills per set, and a .352 hitting percentage. He needs just 10 more kills to become the single-season leader at Fontbonne.
Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell is back on the MCVL All-Conference Team for the third time in his career. He currently leads Division III in total assists (709) and assists per set (11.08). Defensively, he's added 135 digs and 20 blocks. In his career, he's up to 3,533 assists which places him 18th all-time.
Woolsey, an Edwardsville, Ill., native, earns his first MCVL First Team honor after totaling, a career-high .489 hitting percentage, 15 service aces, 41 digs, 29 solo blocks, 29 block assists, and 58 blocks overall. He currently ranks third nationally in hitting percentage and 11th in total blocks.
Rothstein, an Evergreen Park, Ill., native, earns his fourth MCVL All-Conference honor. This year he's totaled 213 digs and 3.13 digs per set which places him in the top-10 nationally in both categories. In his career, he's totaled 1,297 digs and needs 20 more to become the NCAA Division III all-time leader.
