Men's Volleyball Draws Messiah In The First Round Of The NCAA Tournament
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship Bracket was revealed today and the Griffins will open play in Salem, Va., against Messiah on Apr. 21st at 12 p.m.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship Bracket was revealed today and the Griffins will open play in Salem, Va., against Messiah on Apr. 21st at 12 p.m.
The Griffins are one of 12 teams punching a ticket to the NCAA Championship. Fontbonne clinched its spot after winning the MCVL Championship for the second time in program history.
The team knocked off Trine in the Semifinals in straight sets and came away with the four-set win over Mount Union to secure the title.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell and Zach Rothstein were named to the All-Tournament Team as was Most Valuable Player, Ryan Lively.
Messiah, who finished 16-2 overall and 14-2 in conference play, will be making its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Middle Athletic Conference Championship. The team defeated Alvernia in four-sets and earned a reverse sweep five-set win over Stevenson in the championship.
