Men's Volleyball Earns Thrilling Five-Set Win Over Maryville

Set Notes
Set 1: It was the Saints taking an 11-9 lead on a kill from Jacob Fischer. Maryville stretched its lead out to 15-10 and went on for the 25-17 victory.
Fontbonne had 11 kills in the first set with Logan Irby leading the charge with four.
Set 2: The Griffins this time around put Maryville in a 7-1 hole after a Saints attack error. Later, the Griffins led 21-17, but the Saints went on a 4-0 run to tie it up.
The two teams went point-for-point until a service error and a kill from Joseph Huster gave Fontbonne the 25-23 win.
Fontbonne fared much better offensively in the second with a match-high 16 kills and .355 hitting percentage. Ryan Lively and Huster finished with four kills each.
Set 3: In the third, the Griffins led 15-11 on a bad set by the Saints. The two teams later met-up at 20-20 on Jacob Fischer's service ace.
Fontbonne regrouped taking a 24-22 lead and fended off the Saints for the 26-24 win on a double block by Irby and Alex Gantt.
It was another impressive offensive performance by the Griffins with 15 kills and a .281 hitting percentage. Nate Paasch and Huster tied with four kills each.
Set 4: In the fourth, the two teams flip-flopped on lead changes, but the Saints led 20-17 on a Fontbonne attack error. The Griffins tried to make a late run, however, the Saints stayed alive securing the 25-22 win.
Set 5: In the race to eight points in the fifth it was the Griffins getting there holding an 8-4 advantage on Paasch's kill. It was all Fontbonne the rest of the way winning the set and the match, 15-8.

- Fontbonne finished with a season-high 63 kills and 61 assists.
- Defensively, the team came away with a season-high 67 digs.
- Maryville ended with 51 kills and a .200 hitting percentage.
