Griffins with season bests in SLIAC Championship
St. Louis, Mo. - The Fontbonne University and Webster University cross country teams got to host the 2014 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championships on a brisk Saturday morning in Forest Park. The site was home to the 2012 and 2013 U.S. Cross Country Championships.
For the men, runners Cristian Sellars and Chris Brown took to the 8k, finishing 26th and 39th out of 62 runners. Sellars' time of 28:32 was his fastest of the season. Chris Brown clocked a 29:58 8k, his fastest of the season as well. Senior Justin Horneker was unable to race due to an extended illneess, but garnished the only men's hardware for Fontbonne. Horneker was named to the 2014 SLIAC men's All-Sportsmanship team.
Nate Richards of Principia was the conference champion with a 25:41 time. Spalding University placed first as a team.
The Griffins head to Winnecone, Wis. on November 15th to race in the NCAA Midwest Regionals.
