Griffins fall to Coe; Danni Glixman on Regional All-Tournament team
St. Louis- With 30 mile-per-hour winds blowing in from the outfield, Fontbonne took an early 3-0 lead with two outs already in the first inning against the Coe College Kohawks on Saturday afternoon.
McCarthy got her second post-season start striking out three in just over two innings of work, but not before the Kohawks could send four girls across home plate after two walks and four singles. Lindsay Schaefer came in relief but Coe would continue their scoring efforts in the fourth with three more runs for a 7-3 lead.
A Danni Glixman double in the fifth with two RBI's would cut the Kohawk lead 7-5.
Coe would score once more by game's end for a final 8-5 win.
Fontbonne finished their season with an impressive 34-12 record, making it among the top ranked 25 schools in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, a 17-game winning streak, and a first-ever undefeated 16-0 conference record.
Fontbonne only loses one player next year due to Rachel McCarthy's early graduation in December.
Danni Glixman continues with her accolades, scoring her most recent Pella Regional All-Tournament Team selection to go along with 1st team All-Conference and Midwest All-Region selection.
Last season, D. Glixman was the only Fontbonne player to be named to the Bloomington Regional All-Tournament team.
