Griffins hit five home runs and seven doubles in MacMurray sweep

St. Louis- Fontbonne University senior outfielder Sarah Cerutti led the Griffins in Game two against MacMurray, driving in five of the Griffins' nine runs.
Fontbonne got on the board first as Danni Glixman reached second on a MacMurray shortstop error, taking third on a passed ball. Jessie Pratt drove in D. Glixman on her groundout to short in the second inning. Marisa Simon reached base on a double with D. Glixman singling behind her. With runners on first and third, Pratt reached on a shortstop error to load the bases for Cerutti. Cerutti's second home run of the game was her second grand slam of the year. After a scoreless fifth inning, Cerutti shot another long ball over the fence for back-to-back home runs to give Fontbonne a 6-0 lead.
The Griffins scored three more runs in the seventh off five singles, a double and a fielder's choice. Lindsay Schaefer recorded the shutout, going all seven innings, giving up eight hits while striking out two batters.
Fontbonne scored eight runs in the second inning of the first game before ultimately winning 15-2 in five innings. Fontbonne went through the entire lineup with three singles, two doubles, a walk, a stolen base, a triple and a D. Glixman two-run home run. Cerutti and Schaefer each homered during the third inning for a Fontbonne 10-0 lead. Two more doubles and a single scored three runs in the fourth. MacMurray scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning on Swanger's home run. Fontbonne closed out the fifth with two more runs.
Madi Leonard recorded her 12th win of the season with five strikeouts, one walk and two hits. Schaefer went 3-3, D. Glixman went 4-, Marisa Simon went 3-4 and Sarah Cerutti went 2-3 at the plate.
On the day, Fontbonne hit five home runs, seven doubles and one triple with a total of 29 hits. The Griffins host Washington University for a doubleheader on Friday, April 25th. First game begins at 5pm at ABC Ballpark in St. Ann, MO.
