Softball Named SLIAC Conference Champions for Fourth Consecutive Year
St. Louis- No. 23 Fontbonne University softball saw only one St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference loss this season, to Louisville, Ky.'s Spalding University (5-4, 9 innings). The Griffins went 17-1 in SLIAC play, taking the conference regular season crown for the fourth year in a row. The Griffins look to defend their SLIAC Tournament Championship Title for the fifth straight year, advancing them to NCAA Division III Regional play.
Greenville was second in the league with a 15-3 record followed by Spalding (13-5) and Westminster rounded out the final four spot with an 11-3 conference record.
This year the 2014 SLIAC Tournament will be hosted by Principia College in Elsah, Ill. As the #1 seed, Fontbonne will take on Westminster in Game 2 on Thursday, May 1st. Greenville and Spalding will play first.
Losers on Thursday will play first on Friday followed by a game between Thursday's winners.
