Atlanta, Ga. - Fontbonne University softball finally got to play No. 10-ranked Emory University this season. The Eagles came out on top in both games 3-0, dropping the Griffins' season record to 6-8.
In the first game, the UAA champions hit two home runs to score their three points. A two-run shot was hit in the fourth and a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth. Madi Leonard struck out seven in her attempt to take on the Eagles. Danni Glixman and Lindsay Schaefer each hit one double.
fontbonne was blanked in the second game as Emory's Brittany File threw a 10-strikeout no-hitter. Courtney Kedroski walked for the Griffins, taking away File's chance at a perfect game. Caitlin Nappier reached first on an error and stole second. The Glixman sisters connected for the only double play of the game. Schaefer struggled on the mound allowing six hits and six walks.
Fontbonne takes on Piedmont College tomorrow at 11 a.m. Central Time.
