Diana (Pinkley) Reynolds inducted into SLIAC Hall of Fame
St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference inducted three new members into the SLIAC Hall of Fame. Fontbonne University softball pitcher Diana (Pinkley) Reynolds, Principia College soccer player Yaw Denso and Principia College head women's soccer coach Lee Ellis represented the 2015 class on May 19th, 2015. Reynolds joins the SLIAC Hall of Fame after an outstanding softball collegiate career. She was a member of the inaugural Fontbonne softball team, playing from 1994-97, and was the starting pitcher for the program's first-ever game. Her freshman year, Reynolds started in 22 of her 24 games played, winning 13 with one save and a 1.23 ERA. Her sophomore season, Diana pitched in 28 complete games of the teams' 32 on the schedule, with 22 wins, and an ERA of .85. Her 1995 ERA was fifth in the nation among NCAA Division III players and still sits atop the Fontbonne record book.
Her junior year Diana won 12 games with one save, and finished with an ERA of 1.67, while winning her last eight starts. With additional pitchers coming on board her senior year, Diana won eight games with an ERA of 1.64, played first base while batting .418, and was the emergency catcher when injuries required her to fill in. Diana's four-year career totals include 55 wins, 70 complete games, four saves, and a cumulative ERA of 1.26.
Diana was a four-time First Team All-Conference honoree and an 11-time SLIAC Player of the Week. She still holds school records for innings pitched, starts, and wins as well as single-season records for earned-run average and complete games. She has also pitched in two women's Class A ASA National Championships (1995 & 1997), and pitched against the USA Olympic team in 1996 without allowing a baserunner.
Diana was inducted into the Fontbonne Hall of Fame in 2003. She has coached softball at varying schools since she was in college and is currently coaching and managing the Scorpions baseball travel club teams 12U, 9U, 8U and 7U while also teaching pitching and hitting lessons at The Field House Batting Cages in O'Fallon, Mo. Diana currently working as a facilitator for the Special School District supporting new teachers in their certification process and providing professional development.
In 2000, Diana married Fontbonne graduate and baseball alumnus Jack Reynolds. The two reside in O'Fallon, Mo. with their sons Jack (12) and Jake (9).
During the same ceremony, the SLIAC's 2015 Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award winner, Dr. George Barber of Greenville College accepted his award. His acceptance speech can be viewed below as well.
