Fontbonne softball records eighth straight loss
Fontbonne fell to Eureka in game one 4-1 and after holding a 5-0 lead in the second game, Eureka swept the Griffins on a walk-off single in the seventh.

Eureka, Ill. - Fontbonne softball's woes continue as Eureka sweeped the Griffins 4-1 and 6-5 as Fontbonne has now lost eight straight games. With a 9-7 conference record, Fontbonne is still hoping to make it to the conference tournament as the sit fifth in the SLIAC standings.
The Griffins must win their two games at Iowa Wesleyan next week, and the Griffins would need Spalding to lose two of their last six games and Eureka to lose three of their last four conference games to get into the tournament.
Game One
Sam Brown had quite the day at the plate in the first matchup between the Griffins and Red Devils. In the first inning, her triple scored Courtney Kedroski, the lone run of the game for Fontbonne.
Eureka answered by scoring all four of their runs in the second inning. Both teams remained scoreless throughout the rest of the game. Fontbonne stranded five in the game. Brown also doubled.
Game Two
Fontbonne scored five runs in the first inning and kept Eureka coreless until the fifth inning. The Red Devils scored two runs in each of their final three innings. Trailing 5-4 headed into their final offensive opportunity, Eureka took advantage of a Griffin error, which prolonged the inning and prevented the third out. Eureka crossed two runs on the walk-off single through the left side.
Brown homered and hit a double as she went two-for-four in the game with three runs batted in. Emelia Modglin tripled as she went two-for-three. Five different Griffins scored while the visitors left eight on base. Eureka left seven on base.
Fontbonne travels to Illinois College for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday before wrapping up the season against conference opponent Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday, April 29th in Iowa.
