How It Happened
The scoring for the Vikings got started in the bottom of the second. The team grabbed a 1-0 lead on an RBI single from Samantha Crabtree that scored Kayla Sangrey, who led off with single and moved up to second on an error.
After a double, the Vikings made it 3-0 on another double from Abbey Gamble. The team tacked on another run later in the inning to own a 4-0 advantage.
In the top of the third, the Griffins had two one with one down, but the Vikings were able to get out of the inning unscathed. From there, Berry scored two in the third, one in the fifth and another in the sixth to spark the mercy-rule and win 8-0.
Fontbonne Notables
- Maddy Strickland took the loss inside the circle after allowing six runs (five earned) and striking out two in 3.0 innings pitched.
- Diamond Thomas, Grace Harlin, and Melanie Russo had one hit each.
Berry Notables
- Starter Makenzie Flynt picked up her third win on the season after striking out three in 3.0 innings.
- Emily Schechter came on in relief and struck out two for the save.
- Crabtree led at the dish going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
- Kristin Hunt, Sangrey, and Madison Morgan had two hits each.
