Softball Unable To Get Offense Going Against Iowa Wesleyan

Game One
Score: Iowa Wesleyan 4, Fontbonne 0

How It Happened
The scoring got started in the third for the Tigers as Morgan Christner hit an RBI double, plating Ashley Machholz, who reached base on a one out error.
Fontbonne threatened in the fourth with Emelia Modglin leading things off with a double However, Christner retired the side to keep it a one-run game.
From there, the Tigers got homers from McKenzie Copher in the fifth and another in the sixth from Alex Eyman and with Christner on the rubber that was enough for IWU to go on for the 4-0 win.
Fontbonne Notables
- Diamond Thomas took the tough loss going 5.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) and striking out two.
- Grace Harlin, Modglin, and Lexi Becker added a hit each.
Iowa Wesleyan Notables
- Christner improved to 9-3 on the season after allowing just three hits and striking out 10.
- Copher led in the lineup going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
- Christner and Allison Daum had two hits each.

How It Happened
The Tigers got on the board in the first plating three runs, highlighted by Alex Eyman's two RBI double to give them the early advantage.
The team added another run in the second and six more in the third to stretch its lead out to 10-0. Fontbonne kept battling, though in the fifth. Maddy Strickland led off with a double to break the no-hitter.
After a walk to Thomas, Melanie Russo singled to left and that loaded up the bases for Daisy Watkins. She came through with an RBI single that scored pinch-runner Abby Richmond to make it 10-1. Emily McNiff reached on a fielder's choice to plate Thomas. However, the Tigers were able to record the final out and secure the eight-run win.
Fontbonne Notables
- Strickland was dealt the loss after allowing seven earned runs in 4.0 innings of work.
- Strickland, Russo, and Watkins recorded a hit each.
Iowa Wesleyan Notables
- Emma McDanel earned her sixth win on the year after allowing two runs and striking out one.
- Christner and Copher had three RBI each.
