Softball Sweeps Past MacMurray On Senior Day
ST. ANN, Mo.—The Fontbonne University softball team earned a couple 9-1 (5 inn.) and 13-3 (5 inn.) victories over MacMurray on Senior Day.
ST. ANN, Mo.—The Fontbonne University softball team earned a couple 9-1 (5 inn.) and 13-3 (5 inn.) victories over MacMurray on Senior Day.
At the conclusion of the DH, the team honored its seniors in Maddy Stricland, Diamond Thomas, Emelia Modglin, Melanie Russo, Emily McNiff, and Emily Cardwell.
Game One
Score: Fontbonne 9, MacMurray 1

Records: Fontbonne (9-23; 7-10 SLIAC), MacMurray (3-24, 2-13 SLIAC)
How It Happened
The Griffins offense scored early-and-often against the Highlanders. The team plated four runs in the fourth, two in the third, one in the fourth, and two more in the fifth en route to the eight-run victory.
Fontbonne Notables
- Diamond Thomas earned her fifth win on the year after allowing just one run and striking out five.
- Thomas also went 2-for-3 at the plate, totaling two runs scored, two RBI, and a home run.
- Emelia Modglin record a hit and two RBI.
- Grace Harlin went 1-for-1 with two runs scored and two RBI.
- Daisy Watkins and Maddy Strickland contributed the other RBI.
MacMurray Notables
- Kiersten Hann fell to 2-13 after allowing eight runs (six earned) in her 4.1 innings of work.
- Devin Battefeld had the lone RBI.
- Meka Elmore, Brooke Allen, Kerrigan Horn, and Alexis Doyle added one hit each.

The Griffins carried its hot-hitting offense over into game two where they totaled 13 runs on 11 hits. The team plated four in the first, four more in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth for the win.

- Strickland improved to 3-6 on theseason after allowing one earned run and sitting down five.
- Thomas led the offense going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
- Strickland and Gracie Morris combined to go 4-for-6 with three runs scored and four RBI.
MacMurray Notables
- Haley Icenogle dropped her second game on the season after allowing eight earned runs in 3.0 innings.
- Kerrigan Horn paced the offense going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
