Five Griffins Earned SLIAC All-Conference Awards

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Fontbonne University softball team placed five Griffins in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Conference honors, announced the conference office this morning. Grace Paez, Lilly Jones, and Ashley Carrow were selected to the First Team. Hailey Kutz was tabbed to the Second Team, while Kami Matthews was named to the Third Team.

Patience Vandermierden earned a spot in the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Grace Paez, a junior catcher from St. Louis, Mo., was selected to the SLIAC First Team All-Conference. She started in all 38 games played and leads the team in putouts with 132. She recorded 28 assists and had a .988 fielding percentage.

Lilly Jones, a senior second baseman from Benton, Mo., was named to the SLIAC First Team All-Conference. She started in all 37 games played and leads the team with 134 at bats. She recorded 39 hits, 21 runs, 12 RBI, and stole 11 bases.

Ashley Carrow, a freshman outfielder from Jackson, Mo., earned a spot in the SLIAC First Team All-Conference. She started in all 38 games played and leads the team in runs (27), hits (47), doubles (10), RBI (28) and home runs (2).

Hailey Kutz, a sophomore pitcher from Cape Girardeau, Mo., was named to the SLIAC Second Team All-Conference. She holds a 9-4 record in the circle with eight complete games and one shutout. Through 94.1 innings pitched, she has struck out 112 and holds a 2.08 earned run average (ERA). Kutz is ranked second in strikeouts and third in wins in the SLIAC.

Kami Matthews, a freshman pitcher from Ballwin, Mo., was selected to the SLIAC Third Team All-Conference. She holds a 4-5 record in the circle with four complete games and three shutouts. Through 61.1 innings pitched, she has struck out 27 and holds a 2.28 ERA.
