Jones, Kutz Honored CSC Academic All-District
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) announced the 2022-23 Softball Academic All-District award winners Tuesday afternoon, and Fontbonne University athletes Lilly Jones and Hailey Kutz earned the distinct honor.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) announced the 2022-23 Softball Academic All-District award winners Tuesday afternoon, and Fontbonne University athletes Lilly Jones and Hailey Kutz earned the distinct honor.
To be nominated for the All-District Team, a student-athlete must have completed one full calendar year at the institution, be a starter or important reserve and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average at his current institution.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 6.
Lilly Jones, a senior second baseman from Benton, Mo., was named to the SLIAC First Team All-Conference. She started in all 42 games played and leads the team with 149 at-bats. She recorded 45 hits, three triples, 24 runs, 12 RBI, and stole 11 bases. She had a .302 batting average and a .349 slugging percentage.
Hailey Kutz, a sophomore pitcher from Cape Girardeau, Mo., was selected to the SLIAC Second Team All-Conference. She holds an 11-5 record in the circle with 10 complete games and two shutouts. Through 116.0 innings pitched, she has struck out 125 and holds a 2.41 earned run average (ERA). Kutz is ranked second in strikeouts and third in both wins and ERA in the SLIAC.
