Griffins back on track at Washington U Select Meet
St. Louis- Saturday saw the Griffins competing on home soil at the Washington University Select Meet at St. Louis University's Track.
Junior Alyssa Tonner (Trinity Catholic, St. Louis, MO), led the Griffins in the 1500 meter with an impressive 3rd place finish. Sophomore Justin Horneker (St. Mary's, St. Louis, MO) also ran in the 1500.
The 400 meter open saw the return of both Senior Shea Naes (Fox Senior High, Arnold, MO) and Freshman Sam Lay (Bayside High, CA) from the injured list. The senior said: "I'm just happy to be able to get back on the track for my last year. It's all about having as much fun as I can now, while doing my best to help the team."
Tonner and junior Jessica Brock (Long Beach Poly, CA), both ran the 800 meter open, but it was freshman Cristian Sellars (Southwest HS, Washburn, MO) who really stood out in the event, immensely improving on his previous time.
Rounding out the meet for Fontbonne was freshman Claire Becker (O'Hara, Kansas City, MO) competing in a regular 3000 meter race. No Steeplechase this week.
The Griffins will return to the St. Louis University Track this Saturday for the St. Louis University Invitational.
