Griffins Sprint to Personal Bests at Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet
Terre Haute, Ind. - The Griffins track team capitalized on late season fitness to post multiple lifetime bests at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet on Friday night.
Gabi Cruts took 6th place in the women's 100-meter dash in 13.22 seconds; the second best time in program history. Becca Bueher and Clayton Bond ran the 100 for the first time this season, posting times of 13.61 and 12.05 seconds, respectively. In the 200-meter dash, Cruts (27.64 seconds), Buehler (26.93), and Bond (24.63) all had personal bests. Buehler's performance was just one-hundredth of a second shy of the school record.
Taylor McGowen earned Athlete-of-the-Meet for the Griffins, posting almost a one and a half second personal best in the 400-meter dash of 67.38 seconds. Claire Becker contended for the win in the second heat of the women's 1500-meter run. She faded to third in the final 200 meters but held on for a three-second personal best of 5:29.16.
In the men's long jump Dallas Haywood jumped 5.90 meters and James Wiggins jumped 5.02 meters. Kelly Mundwiller threw 9.15 meters in the women's shot put.
Next Saturday, April 25th, the team heads to the SLIAC Invitational hosted by Greenville College to go head-to-head with conference competition.
