Track concludes 2015 season at North Central
Naperville, Ill. – The Griffin track team capped off a great season at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College this weekend.
In the final race of his collegiate career, Justin Horneker took the lead going into the final lap of heat 5 of the men's 1500-meter run. He was ultimately caught by a group of four with 50 meters left, but managed to cross the line run in 4:05.54. It was a four-second personal best and broke the previous school record by two seconds. Just two minutes later, a downpour delayed the meet for two and a half hours.
After the rain lessened and track action resumed, Becca Buehler took to the track for the Griffins. Buehler took second in her heat of the 400-meter dash in a time of 60.21. The performance bested Kelly Lindsey's previous school record of 60.27 set in 2009.
Jennie Stare and Claire Becker ran solid races close to their personal bests in the 800-meter run and 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively.
All told, the men's and women's teams set 15 school records during the indoor and outdoor seasons.
