Kelli Blake resigns to return to her alma mater
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University cross country and track and field head coach Kelli Blake has stepped down and relinquished her position to return to her alma mater, Washington University. Blake has accepted a full-time assistant position for the Bears. She spent the last two years at Fontbonne in charge of men's and women's cross country as well as indoor and outdoor track and field for the Griffins.
"We hate to see Coach Blake go but understand her desire to go back to her alma mater," comments Maria Eftink, Director of Athletics. "We are very grateful for all that she has done in the two years at Fontbonne. We wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors."
This year alone, Blake's teams have continued to grow in the field of competition, setting 18 new school records. "Fontbonne is a great school with great people," says Blake. "I am very thankful for my experience here and for my relationships with the students and staff."
A national search for her replacement will begin immediately.
