Indoor track and field continues to set new marks
Crawfordsville, Ind. - The Griffins have once again improved the Fontbonne track and field record books, this time after participating in the Robert H. Little Giant Open, hosted by Wabash College.
Kelly Mundwiller annihilated her 6.52m weight throw mark set in December, throwing 9.78m after the break for a new school record. Craig Niethe has broken his newly set indoor 60m hurdles for the school and for a freshmen. His time of 9.33 seconds is .34 seconds faster than his established record. Not to be outdone, Neithe's fellow freshmen Griffin Quinn Wilson established a record of his own. Wilson now has the freshman and school triple jump record. The St. Louis, Mo. native from St. Mary's high school jumped 10.89m.
Also performing well with personal records were Brianna Burnett in women's long jump and Chris Brown in the 800.
Head coach Chris Buckler had this to say about the meet, "The second meet is always a struggle and coming out and obtaining a couple of records and PRs and being close with the others is a good sign at this point in the season. As we tell our student-athletes all the time, it's a long process to becoming a champion and building a standard".
Fontbonne will travel to Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. on Saturday, Jan. 23rd for their next meet.
