Griffins win distance medley; break more records
Kenosha, Wis. - Fontbonne track and field continues to update the record books this weekend at the Green and White Invite at the University of Wisconsin- Parkside.
Pictured at the right are Cristian Sellars, Justin Horneker, Quinn Wilson and Chris Brown, winners of the men's distance medley relay. The Griffin's time of 11:47.50 was almost a minute faster than the runner-up. The same Griffins also ran in the 4x400, for the third fastest time in school history.
Criag Neithe made two new marks in the 55m hurdle event, shattering his previous record of 10.46 seconds with an 8.67 run. Brown established the Griffins' men's 600m run in the first heat with a time of 1:35.48. Sellars and Horneker aimed to break his newly formed record, and were neck and neck most of the race until Sellars dove at the finish line. H was successful in the breaking the record with a time of 1:33.72. Horneker was just shy, running 1:35.75. The friendly competition was well received by all members of the team.
Fontbonne freshman Jaylah Jones established several records including the freshman and school 600m run, the freshman 55m hurdle record and the freshman women's weight throw. Junior Kelly Mundwiller set a new record in the weight throw with a 10.58m toss.
The Griffins focus on training for the next two weeks before traveling to DePauw University on February 20th.
