Women's Track and Field records highest team NCAA DIII GPA
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University track and field teams both earned team academic awards as announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today.
Fontbonne University women's indoor and outdoor track and field has a 3.84 cumulative grade point average, the highest of all NCAA Division III teams. In order to be eligible for the team academic award, team cumulative GPA's had to be 3.1 or greater. Of 175 women's teams, the runner-up was St. John Fisher with a 3.645 team GPA.
Fontbonne University men's indoor and outdoor track and field was one of 112 men's teams garnishing the award as well. The Griffins posted a 3.14 cumulative team GPA. Topping the men's list of academic achievement was Waynesburg University with a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
Fontbonne and Principia were the only St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with both teams earning 2016 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team status. Greenville and Westminster's women also earned the award.
