Venegas breaks own record; Dye leads PR's
Raven Venegas broke her own weight throw record while Sydney Dye (pictured) led her teammates in the largest personal record of the UINDY Distance Classic.
Indianapolis, Ind. - Several members of the Fontbonne University indoor track and field team participated at the University of Indianapolis Tom Hathaway Distance Classic this past weekend.
Below is a summary of personal records achieved at the meet. Freshman Sydney Dye threw the shot put (SP) 1.79m farther than her first meet of the year. Raven Venegas placed seventh with her 12.76m weight throw, a new school record, breaking her previous mark set last week by 0.40m. It was the first meet of the year for freshman Kayla Sheldon and Grant Ward. Sheldon is the only current runner in the top ten of the program for the 200m dash. Freshman Austin Lawrence also made his debut in the long jump.

"Overall the team performed well with only one other Division III team in the field," commented head coach Chris Buckler. "To get three athletes into the finals was great and I feel like we are continuing to improve each week. We are very young and as experience is gained, I believe we will continue to reach the podium."
Fontbonne will travel to Depauw University in Greencastle, Ind. on Friday, February 3rd for their Tiger Small College Invitational.
