Austin Lawrence destroys old javelin mark; sets new Griffin record
Hanover, Ind. - Fontbonne track and field competed at the Hanover Invitational Saturday and finished 15th, scoring 11 points on the women's side. Raven Venegas scored 10 points with a runner-up finish in the shot put and a record-breaking seventh place finish in the women's discus with a throw of 35.48 meters. The women's 4x400 relay of Kayla Sheldon, Jennie Stare, Katie Gosser, and Emily Bay finished eighth and picked up 1 point.
On the men's side, the highlight was a school-record javelin throw of 36.40 meters by freshman Austin Lawrence. The previous freshman record was held by Daniel Valentine (2009) and the school record by Chris Graham, set last year.
