Griffins compete in mid-town at SLU Invite

St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne track and field was in action at St. Louis University this weekend.
The men finished tied for 6th with 9 points, to finish ahead of Southeast Missouri and tied with Missouri S & T. Washington University won the men's side with 218 points. Highlights for the men were Quinn Wilson scoring in the long and triple jump and Austin Lawrence scoring in the long jump and javelin.
On the women's side, the Griffins scored 21 points finishing in seventh and one point behind Southeast Missouri. Washington University won the women's meet finishing with 248 points.
Highlights for the lady Griffins included Raven Venegas placing third in the shot put, fifth in the discus and hitting a personal best in the javelin. Jennie Stare scored five points in her fourth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Rounding out the scoring for the women was Mackenze Daniel. Daniel placed seventh in the shot put while the 4x400 relay team of Kayla Sheldon, Colleen Gosser, Katie Gosser and Emily Bay finished sixth while shattering the previous freshman 4x400 record by 23 seconds. Sarah Rhoads made the largest improvement of the weekend running a one min and 24 second PR in the 5000m which is the ninth fastest time in school history.
