Katie Gosser & Raven Venegas perform well at BYU Last Chance Meet

Freshman Katie Gosser and Raven Venegas made the most of their trip out west to Brigham Young University in Utah for the track and field team. The duo set new school records in 10 events and recorded personal bests in nine of their 11 events on the weekend.
The highlight of the meet was Venegas in the shot put who finished third with a throw of 13.04 meters. Venegas currently sits 18 spots from qualifying for the Division III National Championships with one more chance to get in. Prior to this weekend, the multi-sport athlete was 56th nationally and jumped up to 42nd, making an 18-spot jump an acceptable feat. Only the top-24 female competitors move on to national competition.
Gosser, had the best weekend with a 331-point personal best in the women's heptathlon, placing third of six competitors.
Venegas and Gosser will join Sarah Rhoads, Kayla Sheldon, and Austin Lawrence competing at the Gregory Final Qualifier hosted by North Central College May 17-18. All athletes will be competing for a spot at the Division III National Championship host by Mount Union College May 25-27.
