On the men's side, in the 60-meter dash, Brian Nguyen set a new and personal-best record with a time of 7.54. Greih Murray, meanwhile, also shined in the shot put and weight throw. In the shot put, Murray ended with a mark of 8.94 m (29' 4"), which is also a new freshman record and ranks second all-time in program history.
In the long jump, Quinn Wilson (17' 7") leaped to a mark of 5.36 m and that was just .01 m off his indoor personal-best he set last season.
Trey Scott, a Gulfport, Mississippi, native, had a strong debut in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.08 for 13th place and that ranks third all-time. He also competed in the 200-meter dash and finished in 16th at 24.87.
