Griffins Relay Teams Highlight Day At The Karl Schlender Invite
WHITEWATER, Wis.—It was another successful day for the Fontbonne University men’s and women’s track and field teams at the Karl Schlender Invite.
WHITEWATER, Wis.—It was another successful day for the Fontbonne University men's and women's track and field teams at the Karl Schlender Invite.
Highlighting the day for both the men and women's teams came in the 4x200. On the men's side, the quartet of Brian Nguyen, Juwan Lee, Hayden Yates and Jacob Dixon set a new school-record in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:50.25 and that was good enough for third place.
The women's team of Kayla Sheldon, Katie Gosser, Jaylah Jones and Emily Bay also set a school-record in the 4x200 as they crossed the line at 2:07.49 for third.
Yates, Lee, Dixon and Quinn Wilson went on to compete in the Distance Medley Relay and they finished with the sixth fastest time in school history at 13:12.50 for sixth place. Wilson also competed in the long jump and leaped his way to 5.36 m to finish in 15th place.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Nguyen, Lee, Hayden Yates and Dixon ran its way to the eighth fastest time in school history at 4:07.53 to finish in fifth.
The women's team, meanwhile, consisted of Sheldon, Colleen Gosser, Emily Bay and Katie Gosser. They concluded the 4x400 relay in second place at 5:04.96, making it the sixth-best time in history.
After a successful debut prior to the Christmas break, freshman Greih Murray, broke his own freshman record and set a new personal-record in the weight throw with a toss of 9.08 m.
The DMR team of Colleen Gosser, Katie Gosser, Kayla Sheldon and Sarah Rhoads finished in fifth place with a time of 16:37.89, making it the sixth fastest time in school history.
In the weight throw, MacKenzie Daniel led the Griffins with her first toss being her best at 11.26 m (36-11.50) for 10th place.
Emily Bay was right behind her in 12th with a personal-best toss of 9.72 m (31-10.75), while Amelia Tregoning closed out in 15th at 9.45 m (31-00.0). Sierra Moore (8.57 m) and Jaylah Jones (8.02 m), meanwhile, ended up in 16th and 18th place respectively.
Moore also found success in the shot put as she finished in fourth at 11.39 m (37-04.50) and that currently ranks her second all-time. Daniel stood out once again with a mark of 10.15 m (33-03.75) for ninth, while Amelia Tregoning (7.78 m) and Emily Bay (6.81 m) ended in 13th and 14th place.
The long jump saw Katie Gosser (3.82 m), Jaylah Jones (3.67 m) and Emily Bay (3.58 m) all finish in 17th, 18th and 19th respectively.
