Track and Field Breaks More Records At Depauw
GREENCASTLE, Ind.— The Fontbonne University track and field teams competed tonight at the Depauw Small College Invite and the women’s team finished in fifth place, while the men rounded out in seventh.
GREENCASTLE, Ind.— The Fontbonne University track and field teams competed tonight at the Depauw Small College Invite and the women's team finished in fifth place, while the men rounded out in seventh.
On the women's side, Sierra Moore, who set a all-time record in the shot put at the Fred Wilt Invite, shattered that mark with a new record of 12.12 m (39.09.25) on her sixth and final toss to claim first place.
Mackenze Daniel rounded out in seventh place at 9.28 m, while Amelia Tregoning hit a personal-record of 8.56 m for ninth. Emily Bay (7.63m), Jaylah Jones (6.73m) and Katie Gosser (6.60m), finished in 11th, 12th and 13th respectively.
Moore, Daniel, Tregoning and Bay also competed in the weight throw. Moore led them in that event with a personal-record toss of 12.10 m (39-08.50) for fifth place.
Daniel, meanwhile, was right behind her at 11.64 m (38-02.25) for sixth place, while Tregoning set another personal-record at 10.11 m (33-02.00) for eighth place. Bay, though just missed out on her all-time best mark, ending in ninth place at 9.67 m (31.08.75).
Also, in the field events, Katie Gosser (4.12m), Jones (3.89m) and Colleen Gosser (3.30), finished in 11th, 12th and 13th in the long jump.
The 4x400-meter relay team ended the evening in third at 4:52.06, while the 4x200-meter relay team set a new school-record, clocking out at 2:04.49 to end up in fourth place.
Kayla Sheldon competed in the 400-meter dash and sprinted her way to a fourth place finish at 1:10.11. in the 60-meter hurdles, the trio of Jones (12.29), Katie Gosser (12.54) and Emily Bay (12.80) ended up in fourth, fifth and sixth place.
Those three also participated in the 60-meter dash. Katie Gosser set a new PR time of 9.03 to close out in 11th. Bay ended up in 14th at 9.29, while Jones set a PR of her own with a time of 9.34. The distance medley relay team ran its way to a fifth place finish with a time of 15:46.18.
On the men's side, in the shot put, Greih Murray set a new personal and all-time record as his toss of 9.95 m (32-07.75) placed him 10th overall.
Brian Nguyen competed in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash. In the 60-meter, he came in 12th with a time of 7.63, while in the 200-meter, he clocked out in 18th at 25.22 which was just .11 off his PR.
The 4x200-meter relay team finished just 6.0 seconds off the school-record time as they timed out at 1:56.33 for third. The 4x400-meter relay team earned a fifth place finish at 4:08.73.
The Distance Medley Relay team finished in sixth place with a time of 12:44.77. Juwan Lee (2:28.32) and Hayden Yates (2:34.56) both competed in the 800-meter dash.
