Track and Field Closes Out Its Trip Down South At The Birmingham Southern Invite
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Fontbonne University track and field teams closed out its first outdoor meet at the Birmingham Southern Invite on Saturday.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Fontbonne University track and field teams closed out its first outdoor meet at the Birmingham Southern Invite on Saturday.
On the women's side, they closed out in 18th place. In the 100-meter hurdles, Emily Bay led with a time of 14.75. Kayla Sheldon closed out with a time of 14.98, while Jaylah Jones crossed the line at 15.08. Sheldon also competed in the 400-meter dash and ended with a time of 1:10.64.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Katie Gosser just missed out on her personal-record time at 21.00. Jones, meanwhile, finished right behind her at 21.51.
The quartet of Sheldon, Bay, Jones and K. Gosser shined in the 4x100-meter relay. The team closed out with a quality time of 57.05, which places them inside the top-four all-time.
In the field events, Sierra Moore led them in the hammer throw with a toss of 31.01 m. Emily Bay set a new personal-record with a mark of 30.08 m. Colleen Gosser tied her personal-best clearing 2.18 m in the pole vault.
Bay nearly tied her personal-record in the javelin with a toss of 25.23 m. Moore closed out with a toss of 23.99 m, while Amelia Tregoning (23.11 m), K. Gosser (22.68 m) and Jones (20.80 m), also participated in the event.
In the hammer throw on the men's side, Grieh Murray finished at 23.45 m. Murray, along with Hayden Yates, took part in the javelin throw. Murray finished with a top-10 all-time mark of 23.23 m, while Yates ended at 20.73 m.
In the long jump, Jacob Dixon and Yates finished back-to-back, with Dixon finishing at 4.43 m, while Yates leaped his way to 4.42 m.
