Record Setting Day For Track And Field At The Jim Green Invite
JACKSONVILLE, Ill.— The Fontbonne University track and field teams displayed another strong performance today at the Jim Green Invite as the women’s team finished in 10th place overall.
JACKSONVILLE, Ill.— The Fontbonne University track and field teams displayed another strong performance today at the Jim Green Invite as the women's team finished in 10th place overall.
Highlighting the day was the team of Natalie Zmuda, Destiny Jackson, Tamya Dixon and Katie Gosser as they set a school record in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:56.99.
Zmuda also broke her own record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.23 for fifth place. She also took part in the long jump and landed at 4.37 m for 13th place.
Another school record was broken in the high jump with Maris Fusiek clearing 1.40 m for 10th place.
On the men's side, Greih Murray set a school record in the weight throw as he broke his own record with a new mark of 10.76 m.
The Griffins saw Sierra Moore earn a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.45 m. Mackenze Daniel ended at 10.04 m for 11th place, while Emily Bay set a new career-best at 9.58 m on her first throw.
In the weight throw, Daniel broke out with a career-best mark of 13.35 m on her final attempt and that was good enough for fifth place. Bay, meanwhile, closed out in 19th at 9.67 m.
In the 60-meter dash, Dixon just missed out on her personal-record time as she closed out at 8.72 for 15th place. Bay crossed the line with a new personal-record at 9.09, while Jackson was right behind her at 9.19. Dixon went on to close out in 18th in the 400-meter run at 1:11.92.
In the 5000-meter run, Colleen Gosser timed out at 23:32.55 for 13th. Jackson took part in the 200-meter dash and closed out at 29.71 for 13th place. Bay (31.82), Fusiek (32.44), and Tara Weiskopf-Kuehn (38.10) also took part in the race.
Brooks just missed out on a spot in the top-10 in the record books after ending the 800-meter run at 2:50.51, while Katie Gosser finished six seconds behind her at 2:56.66. Brooks also missed out on her personal-record by a few seconds in the mile run at 6:19.74.
On the men's side, Brian Nguyen tied his school record time he set last week in the 60-meter dash at 7.44. He nearly had a personal-record in the 200-meter dash but finished with a time of 24.78. Juwan Lee finished at 27.36. Lee competed in the mile run as well and ended with a time of 5:52.37.
In the field events, Murray had a throw of 9.81 m in the shot put, while Hayden Thompson set a personal-record at 7.74 m. Thompson also set a personal-record in the weight throw at 7.83 m.
The duo of Thompson and Ahn Nguyen competed in the long jump. Thompson landed at 4.08 m, while Ahn Nguyen set a personal-record at 4.01 m.

The team will take next weekend off and return to action on February 15th at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge.
