4x400-Meter Relay Team Sets School-Record, Raven And Jillian Venegas Sweep Field And Newcomer Of The Year Awards
GREENVILLE, Ill.— The Fontbonne University women’s track and field team concluded the SLIAC Outdoor Championships in third place with a program-record 90 points. The men’s team ended up in fifth place overall. At the conclusion of the meet, Raven Venegas was named Field Athlete of the Year, while Jillian Venegas was named Field Newcomer of the Year.

How It Happened
Highlighting the afternoon was the 4x400-meter relay team of Natalie Zmuda, Katie Gosser, Desiree Brooks, and Tamya Dixon setting a school-record in the event with a time of 4:28.64.
On the women's side, after her sister picked up a win yesterday in the discus, Raven Venegas earned a win today in the shot put with a mark of 12.04 m on her final throw.
Sierra Moore ended up in second place at 11.41 m, while Jillian Venegas collected a fourth-place finish at 10.57 m. Emily Bay collected a PR at 9.42 m for seventh, while Caitlyn Ulery finished in 10th at 8.27.
In the hammer throw, Raven Venegas led Fontbonne with a third-place finish at 41.24 m. Jillian Venegas hit a personal-record with a mark of 39.98 m. Amelia Tregoning finished out at 28.67 m and Emily Bay concluded at 23.00 m. In the high jump, Maris Fusiek cleared 1.37 m, while Bay surpassed 1.32 m.
In the track events, the 4x100-meter relay team of Tamya Dixon, Maris Fusiek, Katie Gosser, and Bay finished in third place at 56.68. Katie Gosser just missed out on her PR in the 800-meter dash as she finished in sixth at 2:40.61.
Brooks finished in fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a personal-record time of 1:07.55.
Natalie Zmuda competed in the 100-meter hurdles and finished in fourth place at 17.30. She also ran in the 100-meter dash and closed out in sixth place at 13.19. Zmuda ran in the 200-meter dash and finished in fifth at 27.16. Dixon also competed with a time of 29.31 for 12th.
In the 5000-meter run, Colleen Gosser crossed the line in sixth place with a time of 22:05.80. She also competed in the 1500-meter run and timed out at 6:03.90.
On the men's side, Greih Murray ended up in ninth in the hammer at 30.02 m, while Hayden Thompson followed at 22.82 m. Murray did earn a PR in the shot put with a throw of 10.43 m. Thompson ended at 7.68 m. In the 5000-meter run, Austin Joyce ran his way to a time of 19:13.65.
