Eureka Tops Griffins in Record-Setting Game
St. Louis- Fontbonne University women's basketball saw a part of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) history this weekend in their 76-59 loss to Eureka College. Eureka senior Caty Eeten scored her sixth point of the game in the first half, totaling 1,689 career points to take the SLIAC all-time points record. Eeten ended the game with 12 points.
The Griffins trailed by five at the half after senior forward Chelsey Freymuth exited the game due to injury. Freymuth scored six points in her six minutes of play, shooting 50% from the field.
Eureka scored 12 unanswered points in three minutes of play during the second half to take a 60-40 advantage over the Griffins, and held their largest lead (23 points) with 4:50 remaining.
Leading the Griffins with her career-high was DeAmbra Pilkinton with 15 points. Emily Haring and Chelsy Gibson each scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds in the loss. Olivia Hollander contributed for Fontbonne with eight rebounds, five points, and three assists.
Game-high scoring went to Eureka's Kelsey Shoemake with 20 points as well as 14 rebounds for the only double-double of the game. Emily Camden finished with 14 points.
The Griffins travel to Westminster this Tuesday for a 6pm SLIAC matchup.
