Kedroski scores four treys in Griffins' loss to Millikin
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University women's basketball fell today to Millikin University 61-93. The Griffins are now 3-3 on the year. Millikin's record is now 6-1.
Last night Fontbonne played at Eureka College and after a late bus ride home, the Griffins struggled as they entered their third game of the week. Only down by three, the Griffins allowed Millikin to go on an 18-3 run. At halftime the Griffins trailed 26-47 after shooting 32.4% in the field and just 12.5% from the arc. Millikin out-rebounded Fontbonne 25-14 in the half.
Two and a half minutes into the second half the Griffins subbed in their second line. Courtney Kedroski sank three three-pointers in a row for the Griffins, trying to bring the Griffins within range of Millikin. Kedroski was 4-4 from long range until she missed her last attempt three minutes later. Fontbonne scored their final five points of the game with 30 seconds remaining.
Kedroski was 4-5 from the arc and 5-9 in the field overall while sinking both free throw attempts. Her 16 points is a career-high for the freshman. Erika Kuhn totaled 13 points and six rebounds for the Griffins. Several freshmen earned playing time today. Lexie Thompson scored on her only three-point attempt today, while Sarah Schraut went 2-4 in free throws and Taylor Ventimiglia 1-2 at the line. All three recorded their first collegiate points. Fontbonne recorded 39 bench points on the afternoon.
The Griffins have a week off before returning to conference action when they host Iowa Wesleyan College on Saturday, Decemeber 13th at 1pm.
