Sias Promoted to Full-Time Head Coach/Compliance Director
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University head women's basketball coach Maureen Sias will be full-time this year while also taking on the role of Compliance Director.
"I am so excited to announce the addition of another full-time head coach in Coach Maureen Sias," says Maria Eftink, Director of Athletics. "She has a rich history with Fontbonne women's basketball and I could not be more pleased with what she was able to accomplish in her first season. The future of Fontbonne women's basketball is very bright, especially now that Coach Sias can devote more of her time to our wonderful student-athletes."
Sias, who completed her first season at the helm of the Griffins last year is excited to be on staff full-time. "I'm very excited to be granted this opportunity and become a full-time employee in the athletic department," says Sias. "This gives me ample open-door availability for student-athletes while also allowing more time to re-develop our program. Fontbonne athletics has always been very important to me and I look forward to enhancing the success of our women's basketball team and department."
Prior to her head coaching stint at Fontbonne, Sias assisted long-time head women's basketball coach Keith Quigley for five years. She is an alum and two-time graduate of Fontbonne with her Bachelor's in English and Master's in Reading Education . She was also an assistant for Kirkwood High School Girls Basketball. Sias is a member of the 1,000 point club (1,012) and holds several Fontbonne women's basketball records: career free throw percentage (85%), most three-pointers in a game (8) and is second in highest free-throw percentage in a season (90.7%).
Sias is leaving her teaching position and will begin her full-time duties in August. She resides in Brentwood with her husband Zach and daughter Shannon.
