Haring caps off season with SLIAC honors and NCAA Rankings
Emmie Haring sits at the top of the Central Region in assists and steals while taking home two SLIAC postseason awards while Colleen Ahearn represents the Griffins on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
St. Louis, Mo. - This past week Fontbonne point guard Emmie Haring was ranked seventh nationally in steals per game (4.0), eighth in total steals, 10th in assists per game (6.0) and 14th in total assists, her highest rankings this season. To cap it off, Haring leads the Central Region in both assist categories and is second in both steal categories. She also leads the top four players in the assist categories with a 1.79 assist to turnover ratio.
The St. Joseph Academy alum most recently received Second-Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team accolades in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. She's been the SLIAC leader in assists and steals all season, totaling 145 assists and 96 steals. Haring was just four assists short of her school record mark from last year and her 96 steals in a season is second-best among all-time Griffins as well. Haring has 381 career assists, also in second as well behind a record set back in 2001 by Melissa Steward with 437 assists.
Sophomore Colleen Ahearn was chosen to represent the Griffins on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. According to head coach Maureen Sias, "Colleen embodies true sportsmanship through hard work every day at practice and a positive attitude on and off the court. She is not only a great teammate, but one of those extremely coachable players. It's great to see her honored with this award."
