Webster rolls over Fontbonne women's basketball
The loss at Webster ends Fontbonne's regular season and puts them as the fourth seed in the SLIAC Tournament next week.
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne women's basketball succumbed to Big Bend Rival Webster University today 83-58. The loss, evens the series between the two teams this year, and gives the Griffins a fourth seed in the 2017 SLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Fontbonne will square off against No. 1- seeded and host Eureka College on Thursday, February 23rd at 8 p.m. Webster earned the third seed and will take on Greenville at 6 p.m.

Webster came out gunning on their senior night, toppling the Griffins in each quarter, and leading by as many as 27 points in the final quarter.Webster led 17-8 after the first frame and 44-28 at halftime. Webster shot 50 percent in the field and missed just one of 17 free throw attempts in the game. Fontbonne shot 43.8 percent in the field and committed 29 turnovers.
Three Griffins tallied double digits in the loss including Fontbonne's team-high of 14 from sophomore Kaitlynn Walker. Freshman Raven Venegas notched 12 points, four steals and three blocks. Junior Sarah Schraut went five-of-eight for 10 points. Seniors Emmie Haring and Lauren Willis each recorded seven assists while Haring also added five steals, five rebounds and two blocks to her six points. Willis added eight points in her final regular season contest.
Fontbonne ends the regular season 9-8 in conference play and 13-11 overall.
