Women's lacrosse drops a pair to open the season

March 12, 2012 - The Fontbonne University women's lacrosse team open their 2012 season with a pair of loses this weekend. The Griffin fell to 0-2 on the season.
On Friday, Fontbonne squandered a 8-3 halftime lead losing to Alma College 13-11 in overtime. The Griffins got great performances from Mary Alice Pierce and Carolann Brenzo but it wasn't enough. Pierce had a team-high six goals while Brenzo tallied four. Making her collegiate lacrosse debut, Tabitha Bennight recorded 10 saves in goal for the Griffins.
On Saturday, Fontbonne fell to Augustana College 23-3. Pierce had two goals while Brenzo recorded the other.
Fontbonne returns to the field next Sunday playing at Mount St. Joseph College.
