Men's Wrestling Drops Inaugural Match Against Prairie Wolves

How It Happened
Things started out very well for the Griffins in the opening at 125-pounds with Austin Cornell winning by fall at 3:59 to give Fontbonne the early 6-0 lead and register the first fall in Fontbonne history. The Prairie Wolves evened up the match at 133-pounds with Eron Haynes coming away with the fall win at 2:09.
At 141-pounds, Noah Patton got the momentum right back in the Griffins favor with a 7-5 decision victory over Ryan Smales and that put Fontbonne on top, 9-6.
However, at 149-pounds, Brayden Dowding won by fall to give NWU the 12-9 advantage. From there, a forfeit win at 157-pounds extended the lead out to 18-9.
Nebraska Wesleyan won its third straight match, at 165-pounds, with Nathan Hunt winning by technical fall, 21-2. At 174-pound, the Griffins got back on the winning track with Micah Dennis picking up the 11-2 major decision win over Drake Sturh.
However, the Prairie Wolves went on to win by decision (5-2) at 184-pound, forfeit at 197-pound, and by fall (5:57) at the heavyweight division.
