Johnson Earns Eighth Place Finish At North Central

How It Happened
At 125-pounds, Jacob Dixon opened with a fall at 1:47 against Brock Davis (Westminster). In the consolation bracket, he took on Cole Kubesh (Concordia Moore) and was defeated by fall at 1:55.
At 133-pounds, Cody Castelline first squared off against Kyle Schaaf (Olivet) and fell 3-0 by decision. On the consolation side, he dropped a 9-6 decision against Joey Armijo (Harper).
In the 141 pound division, Noah Patton fell 4-1 by decision against Andrew Castaneda (Olivet). In his next match on the consolation bracket, Patton took on Quinn Youngs (Augsburg) and despite his efforts he fell by decision, 7-4.
At 165-pounds, Ryan Howerton, Jr., fell 16-11 in his opening match against Moise Madimba (Augusburg). He went on to face Frank Mercurio (Olivet) and dropped a major decision, 9-1.
Micah Dennis competed in the 174 pound division and fell by fall at 4:24 against Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (Augusburg). In the consolation bracket, he dropped his match against David Preston (Harper) by technical fall.
At 184-pounds, Andrew Warren took on Jake Arends (Concordia Moorehead) but dropped by fall at 2:47. After a bye in the consolation bracket, he squared off against Ayden Friese (Concordia Moorehead) and was defeated by technical fall, 19-3.
At 285-pounds, Joey Johnson started off his day with a win by fall at 4:41 over Richard McQuay (Westminster). However, in his next contest against Dominick Wilson (Olivet) he fell by fall at 4:12.
On the consolation side, his first match was against Jacob Ramos and Johnson earned the fall win at 2:45. His success continued in his contest against Gabriel Fitzpatrick (North Central) where Johnson collected the sudden victory to move on in the bracket.
He then took on Garrett Hunt (Lakeland) and earned another impressive 8-4 decision win. However, in the semifinals of the consolation bracket, Chad Grimm (MacMurray) spoiled Johnson's run winning by fall (2:42).
