Johnson, Koester, And Patton Each Pick Up Two Wins At The Jim Fox Duals

DUBUQUE, Iowa.—The Fontbonne University men's wrestling team opened up the 2020 part of its season at the Jim Fox Duals.
Match 1 – University of Dubuque 46, Fontbonne 3
To begin the day the Griffins took on host Dubuque and the Spartans won the first two matches at both 125 and 133-pounds.
However, at 141-pounds, Noah Patton earned an impressive 3-1 decision win over Isaiah Williams to get the Griffins on the board. The Spartans, though went on to win the rest of its matches to secure the 46-3 win.

Match 2 – Concordia-Moorhead 41, Fontbonne 9
The Griffins met up with Concordia-Moorhead for the second time this season after falling 55-0 in the first meeting.
After Concordia-Moorhead took the early lead, the Griffins evened it up at 6-6 with Tanner Koester winning by forfeit at 133-pounds. Despite the Griffins best efforts, Concordia-Moorhead won the next six matches to stretch its lead out to 41-9. At 285-pounds, though Joseph Johnson picked up a 4-2 decision victory over Austin Ratliff.

Match 3 – MSOE 31, Fontbonne 21
This was also the second meeting on the season between Fontbonne and the Raiders. The Griffins earned its first-ever win in the last meeting against MSOE.
This time around, the Griffins owned a 6-0 lead at 125-pounds with Austin Cornell winning by forfeit. From there, at 133-pounds, Tanner Koester won by fall over Gianni Rago to stretch the lead to 12-0. Its success continued at 141-pounds as Noah Patton won again by fall over Eddie Diaz Barragan to give Fontbonne an 18-0 lead.
The Raiders, however, went on to win the next six matches to lead 31-18 over the Griffins. At 285-pounds, Johnson came through with a decision win over Jack Horihan to finish out the afternoon.
