Men's Wrestling Finishes In Fifth At The Southeast Wrestling Conference Championships

How It Happened
At 125 pounds, Austin Cornell fell in his first match by technical fall against Nathaneal Rankin (University of the Ozarks). On the consolation side, he met-up with Andrew Smith (Huntingdon) in the third-place match but fell by a 5-3 decision to finish in fourth.
At 133 pounds, Cody Castelline opened-up his day with a 3-1 decision victory over Tristan Powell (Huntingdon). He then took on Levi Englman (Ferrum) but dropped a tough 2-0 decision. In his consolation match, he squared off against Joey Ferigne (Greensboro) and it was Ferigne coming away with the 5-2 decision win.
At 141 pounds, David Vance fell by technical fall in his first match against Michael Mort (Huntingdon). His next contest was against Durrell Thompson (University of the Ozarks) but Thompson won by fall at 2:55 for the victory.
At 174 pounds, Micah Dennis began his day with a strong 8-1 decision win over Kiefer Bangham (Huntingdon). However, he Jacob Grady (Ferrum) won by fall to force Dennis over to the consolation bracket.
Dennis went toe-to-toe against Trevor Carter (Greensboro) and stayed alive winning by fall in 1:01 to advance onto the third-place match. In the final contest, he squared off against Ndayambaje John (University of the Ozarks) and it was John winning by major decision as Dennis closed out in fourth.
At 285 pounds, Joseph Johnson dropped a 2-0 decision against Carlos Leyva (Ferrum). In his next match, Johnson fell by a 3-2 decision against Carlos Ortega.
