Fontbonne University junior Kelly Lange scored one goal and assisted on two others as the Griffins defeated Eureka College yesterday 4-0. The Griffins improved to 4-8 overall and 2-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).
Fontbonne senior Kim Carter opened the scoring in the game's 2nd minute and Lange doubled the Griffins lead in the 35th minute. The Griffins took a 2-0 lead into halftime despite outshooting Eureka 12-6 in the opening 45 minutes.
In the second half, Lange assisted Carter in the 66th minute to give Fontbonne a 3-0 lead. Griffin sophomore Emily Davenport recorded her second goal of the season in the 69th minute on an assist from Lange. Fontbonne senior Kaniz Abbas recorded three saves in picking up the victory and the shutout.
Fontbonne will return action Tuesday night when they host Greenville College at 6 pm.
