Griffins sweep weekly SLIAC awards
A pair of Fontbonne University women's soccer players received St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) accolades this week taking home offensive and defensive player of the week honors.
Fontbonne's Erica Kaiping, a junior from Waterloo, Mo., has been named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14. Kaiping, a forward, recorded three goals in two conference games last week. She had one goal in a 2-0 victory versus Greenville College. Kaiping added two goals, including the game-winning goal, as the Griffins defeated Spalding University 3-0.
Freshman Paige Pfankuch, from Belleville, Ill. (O'Fallon Township), has been named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 8-14. As a central defender, Pfankuch helped Fontbonne post two shutout victories last week. She is part of a defense that has not allowed an opponent goal in 289 straight minutes.
