Tight Women's Soccer Race Predicted in 2014 SLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll
St. Louis- Fontbonne University women's soccer has been tabbed to finish fifth in the 2014 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Coaches Preseason Poll. Spalding, Greenville and Fontbonne are all within five votes with Spalding winning the third place nomination. Webster was picked to win the conference with Principia second.
Fontbonne went 10-6-4 overall last season and were 6-2-1 in the SLIAC. The Griffins bring back their top three scorers and their starting goalie from last year. The trio of Kayla Thorpe, Savannah Davis, and Paige Pfankuch are back to provide the offense. Thorpe led the team with nine goals and five assists. Fontbonne opens their season on the road in Cincinnati, Ohio, taking on the newly named Mount Saint Joseph University Lions on Aug. 29th.
