SLIAC Announces Postseason Awards
St. Louis Mo. - Following the women's tournament championship game, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2014 SLIAC Postseason Awards.
Fontbonne University leading scorer sophomore Kelly Hobbs garnished First Team All-Conference honors, as did leading assister junior Paige Pfankuch. Hobbs scored six game-winners on 10 total goals with 7 assists for 27 points. Pfankuch aided the Griffins with nine assists and two goals while leading a strong defensive line.
Fontbonne sophomore Ashlynn Reiter scored Third Team All-Conference honors after finishing her first season with the Griffins with 22 points (9 goals, 4 assists). Freshman defender Maddie Redohl accompanied Reiter with Third Team All-Conference honors. Redohl was solid in the backline, settling in the back center for the Griffin defense.
Senior Kayla Thorpe and Redohl were named to the 2014 SLIAC All-Tournament team. Pfankuch was also named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Fontbonne University women's soccer head coach Brian Hoener (fourth season) guided the Griffins to a 15-4-2 overall record and 7-1-1 conference record. Hoener was named SLIAC Coach of the Year in the women's division, earning the award twice in the last three years.
