Oakland City, Ind. - Fontbonne women's soccer has had trouble with their offense, but tonight the Griffins tallied 20 shots against Oakland City, scoring the game-winner with just eight minutes left to play. Fontbonne defeated Oakland City 2-1 tonight to break a three-game losing streak and are now 3-4 on the year. The win marks fifth-year head coach Brian Hoener's 200th career win.
Freshman Rebecca Rosebrough connected with senior Kelly Hobbs who scored her first goal of the season. The goal gave Fontbonne a 1-0 lead. Not long after, Oakland City tied the game. With the game dwindling down and overtime looming in site, senior defender Paige Pfankuch went into the corner and struck the game-winning goal to secure the victory. The goal was her first of the season.
Overall, Fontbonne posted a 20-5 shot advantage. The Griffins also had three corner kicks and two yellow cards.
