Decatur, Ill. - Fontbonne women's soccer skunked a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 overtime victory over Millikin University tonight. The Griffins improve to 4-6 on the year.
Fontbonne freshman Hannah Andrzejewski recorded her first collegiate goal in grand fashion this evening. The forward from St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles West scored early in the game on a breakaway after taking the ball from the Millikin defense. The goal was near the seventh minute and was the only goal of the first half.
Millikin tied the game halfway into the second half on a shot that rebounded off the crossbar. Fontbonne midfielder Natalie Sipole (Troy, Ill./Triad) launched her first golden nugget of the year from 30 yards out after receiving the ball from sophomore Ellen Weaver. Fontbonne secured the overtime game-winner 96:16 into the contest.
The Griffins were more aggressive tonight posting 11 fouls to Millikin's six while out-shooting the Big Blue 17-7. Tayler Pulvirenti saved four in net for Fontbonne.
