Jacksonville, Ill. - The Griffins three goals on 14 shots on target against the MacMurray College Highlanders. Fontbonne recorded 20 total shots on the day and are now 5-6 overall and 1-1 in SLIAC play.
Senior Paige Pfankuch scored the only goal in the first half. Freshman Daniel Caruso recorded her first collegiate goal and added a second one just four minutes later. Caruso's first tally occurred with the help from teammates Ellen Weaver and Lyndsey Godier. She netted both of her only shots of the day.
The Griffin defense blanked any chances of MacMurray trying to score, earning senior Tayler Pulvirenti her first shutout of the season. Fontbonne maintained a 7-0 corner kick advantage.
Fontbonne returns to Centene Stadium (305 Gay Ave. 63105) Wednesday, October 7th when they host Big Bend rival Webster University at 8pm.
